Walter Herrmann
Associate Senior Exploration Geologist

Walter Herrmann is a VMS specialist geologist with 35-years experience exploring for a wide range of base and precious metal deposits across Australia. Walter spent 14 years with companies including United Uranium NL, Australian Anglo American Ltd, Geopeko Ltd and PanContinental Ltd where he gained drill program management and supervision skills, and 13 years as a Tasmanian-based independent consultant to a number of other Australian and multinational mining companies. The greater part of his industry experience has been in the Palaeozoic Tasman Fold Belt of eastern Australia, in exploration for volcanic hosted massive sulphide, intrusion related porphyry copper-gold deposits and tin-tungsten skarn deposits.
The relationships between wall-rock alteration, ore deposits and metallogenesis are major research interests, and Walter has expertise in detailed mapping and interpretation of alteration haloes using mineralogic, majorelement, trace-element and stable isotope geochemical, and short wavelength infrared spectralanalytical techniques.
 

Finn Barrett
Associate Senior Exploration Geologist, Layered Intrusion Specialist

Specialist in exploration for magmatic Ni-Cu-Pge deposits but has explored for a wide range of commodities and successfully worked in a range of climatic, political and cultrural environments.
Highly motivated and performs well both as a single operator and as part of a team.
Has generated projects for most of the leading companies in Ni-Cu-PGE exploration (Inco, BHP, Outokumpu, Anglo American and Lonmin)
Willing to work anywhere, as long as personal risk is considered and minimised.

Martin Caswell
Senior Exploration Geologist

Martin Caswell graduated with Honours in Geology from the University of Western Australia completing his economic geology Honours thesis under the supervision of respected West Australian Economic Geologist, Prof David Groves.

Martin has over 21 years experience as a resource development and exploration geologist and has explored for multiple commodities within diverse geological settings.  He was a member of the Minjar Gold Project’s discovery and resource definition team and, in 2003, was Geological Supervisor of the Safari Bore Gold Project resource development team.

Martin bolsters Digirock’s resource definition and development expertise through his attention to detail, knowledge of QA/QC procedures and geotechnical expertise. He is familiar with a wide range of industry-standard software packages. Martin prides himself on a proactive approach to health, safety, community and environment.
 

Lorelei Carlucci
Project Exploration Geologist

Lorelei has 3 years experience as an exploration geologist and graduated with honours from Ball State University, Indiana, USA. She moved to Perth in 2005 with her Australian husband to begin a career in geoscience. Since joining Digirock, Lorelei ("Loz") has worked in nickel, gold and iron ore exploration. The past year has seen her working out of the Digirock office after taking six months maternity leave at the start of 2009. She has been working on Digirock's Business Development projects as well as undertaking project client work. Lorelei's most recent field work was as a Project Exploration Geologist for Avoca Resources, which included geological interpretation, hole planning and drilling management. She has worked on deep diamond drilling, defining and extending a disseminated nickel sulphide resource in the north-eastern Goldfields and iron ore, resource definition drilling and rock-chip sampling across various remote Pilbara tenements. She was part of the Digirock project team that undertook a three month Regional gold exploration program for strike extensions to Anglogold Ashanti/Independence Group's Tropicana Gold Deposit, operating out of a remote fly-camp.

Lorelei has a quiet easy-going nature and readily establishes good working relationships within the team in which she is working. She is a 'natural' exploration geologist.
 

Emily Haberle
Project Exploration Geologist

Emily Haberle is a five year experienced Exploration Geologist who graduated from Canterbury University, New Zealand with a BSc in Geology and an MSc in Engineering Geology. Since graduating she has worked on a range of gold and iron ore projects in WA where she has supervised diamond, RC and RAB programs and undertaken mapping and soil sampling.
She is familiar with Vulcan, Micromine, and ArcMap software, has a current Senior First Aid Certificate and has undertaken 4x4 driver training.
Emily is an enthusiastic Exploration Geologist with an eye for detail and problem solving. Emily works well in a team and is highly regarded by both her peers and supervisors.

Bron, Bronwyn

Bronwyn Kimber
Project Exploration Geologist

Bronwyn Kimber graduated from the University of Tasmania with First Class Honours in geology and the awarding of the prestigious Samuel Carey Award for most outstanding Honours project. Since graduating she has worked as an exploration geologist on base metal and disseminated nickel sulphide deposits in the Northeastern Goldfields and Pilbara region of Western Australia, a Canning Basin MVT deposit, and undertaken shallow diamond drilling in support of geothermal exploration in Tasmania. She also worked for a year as a project geologist exploring for tin, zinc and gold in NSW. She has comprehensive RC and diamond drilling as well as mapping and soil/stream sampling experience, both in greenfields exploration and resource definition programs.

Additionally Bronwyn has spent 18 months working as a geophysicist in the Antarctic, has completed a helimag survey over Macquarie Island and has most recently been a lecturer in geology/glaciology on an Antarctic cruise ship followed by travelling in South America. Bron is a talented geologist and geophysicist with a passion for field based work.
 

Jonathan Vigier
Exploration Geologist

Jonathan Vigier completed an Honours Degree in Geosciences in 2003 followed by an MSc in Exploration and Management of Mineral Resources at the University of Orléans (France) and University of Quebec in Montreal (Canada) in 2004. Jonathan has four years experience in Exploration Geology, during this period he has undertaken the supervision of RC, aircore and diamond drill rigs, chip and core logging, sampling and supervision of field assistants, across phosphate and gold deposits.

Jonathan is a passionate geologist who enjoys outdoors pursuits and his easy going nature ensures he fits into any geological team well.
 

Oisin McFadden
Exploration Geologist

Oisin is a well accomplished, three year experienced Exploration Geologist who graduated from University College, Dublin, Ireland with a BSc in Geology. He has experience in navi- , conventional diamond and percussion drilling, drill planning, logging and geological interpretation across both Eastern Goldfields gold and iron ore and Pilbara iron ore exploration. Additionally, he has undertaken Graduate Mentoring and development of standard operating procedures for exploration.

Oisin’s easygoing nature makes him a well-liked member of any exploration team he has worked in. He is keen to develop a greater knowledge of the project geology process through mentoring from senior geological staff.
 


 

Cath Wetherley
Office Geologist

Cath Wetherley has a BSc with Honours from the University of Western Australia and is a skilled geological research assistant with expertise in geological data collation, representation and display using GIS software, geological reporting and proofing as well as map and figure production for manuscripts, reports and presentations.

Since joining Digirock as an Office geologist, Cath has worked on several historical data compilation, annual reporting projects, geological drafting and database compilation projects.
 

Clare

Clare Greenough
Graduate Exploration Geologist

Clare Greenough graduated from the University of Bristol, England in 2009 with a BSc Geology. She has recently commenced as a Graduate Exploration Geologist with Digirock on the Graduate Training program.

Clare is conversant with MapInfo, has current Mineworker’s Health Surveillance, Senior First Aid and MARCSTA certification. Additionally Clare has completed Digirock’s five day Geological Best Practice: Drilling course and will complete 4WD training in early December 2010.

Clare is a vivacious individual with a love of the outdoors and is looking forward to commencing her career as an Exploration Geologist in Western Australia.

Jonathan Marsh
Graduate Exploration Geologist

Jonathan (Jonna) Marsh graduated from the University of Plymouth, UK with a BSc Applied Geology (Hons) in June 2009. Jonna has a long-held interest in geology, first commencing studies at high school and completing his studies by topping his Honours year.

Jonna commenced with Digirock in November 2010 as a Graduate Exploration Geologist and has completed MARCSTA, Senior First Aid, Niton (Portable XRF) and Introductory 4WD training as well as Digirock’s 5 day Geological Best Practice: Drilling Training. His mechanical-mindedness, enthusiasm for the outdoors and enjoyment of Geology will see him develop into an exceptional explorationist.

Jennifer Caleno
Graduate Geologist

Jennifer Caleno graduated from University College, Cork, Ireland with a BSc Geology (First Class Honours) in 2009. Jennifer has a solid academic record and excelled particularly in Structural Geology. Jennifer joined Digirock on a Graduate Geologist Cadetship in June 2010 and has completed Senior First Aid, MARCSTA and 4WD training and has a current MWHS certificate.

Jennifer is an outgoing and motivated individual who is attentive and eager to learn and integrates easily into a team.

Nora O'Keeffe
Graduate Geologist

Nora O’Keefe graduated from the University College, Cork with a BSc Hons (Geology) in 2009 and a strong academic record across a solid foundation of Geology units including Structural Geology, Ore Geology, Geochemistry and Mineralogy. Nora commenced her Graduate Exploration Geologist Cadetship with Digirock in June 2010 and has completed Senior First Aid, MARCSTA and 4WD training and has a current MWHS certificate.

Nora’s friendly nature, willingness to participate in community activities along with her genuine interest in geology will see her develop into an excellent Field Geologist.

Gillian Cramm graduated from University of Ottawa, Canada in 2009 with a BSc Geology (Hons).  Gillian has recently completed a 7 month assignment as a Junior Exploration Geologist in Ontario, Canada, gaining experience in mapping, logging, drilling and assaying.

Gillian has a solid academic record and with a love of the outdoors is looking forward to commencing her career as an Exploration Geologist in Western Australia.

Reece Witten
Project Exploration Geologist

Reece Witten is an exploration geologist and graduated from the University of Melbourne with Honours in 2004. He has worked in a number of geological terrains including Archean Granite-Greenstone and the Pine Creek Geosyncline exploring for gold and Papua New Guineau’s Orogenic Belt exploring for copper/gold systems.

Reece is a well respected and broadly experienced exploration geologist well versed in diamond and RC drilling and logging, mapping and sampling techniques with additional experience in resource modelling. His easy going nature and solid technical ability makes him ideally suited to working in exploration teams.
 

Melanie,Ashley

Melanie Ashley
Graduate Exploration Geologist

Melanie Ashley completed her BSc in Applied Geology at Curtin University in October 2011. Through vacation field exploration work, Melanie has acquired skills in RC rig supervision and chip logging, sample QAQC as well as drilling safety and logistics. She is an active and keen geologist and holds memberships to the AusIMM, AIG, Geological Society of Australia (GSA), the Curtin Geology Students’ Society, GEOS, and is the GEOS student representative to the GSA, WA branch.

Melanie has strong organisation, time management and communication skills and enjoys the team work environment. She enjoys the challenge of scientific problem solving and will be a committed member in any exploration team.
 

Matthew Bond

Matthew Bond
Graduate Exploration Geologist

Matthew Bond graduated from Cardiff University with a BSc (Hons) in Geology in 2010, which provided him with a range of key research skills together with data analysis and problem solving abilities. Matthew possesses excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. While very much a team player, Matthew is also capable of working alone using his initiative to achieve desired goals.

His retail experience has provided Matthew with excellent customer service skills, and this combined with a positive work ethic, being reliable and keen to take on new responsibilities, should see Matthew fit well into any exploration team.

Therese, White

Therese White
Graduate Geologist

Therese White graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Earth Science from the National University of Ireland in 2008 and is a member of the Mineralogical Society of Great Britain and Ireland and the Irish Geological Society. Prior to heading to Australia to further her geological career, Therese gained valuable field experience as an Environmental Scientist carrying out various on site environmental monitoring surveys throughout Ireland for the EPA. Since arriving in Australia in early 2011, Therese has gained over six months experience supervising aircore and diamond rigs on a gold project in the Murchison. This role also saw her involved in writing annual reports and preparing Programmes of Work for submission to the WA Mines Dept.

Therese enjoys the field-based nature of her work and the outdoors and this, with her bubbly personality, enthusiasm and willingness to learn, will ensure she is an asset to any exploration team.

David,Ralston

David Ralston
Graduate Geologist

David Ralston graduated from the University of Glasgow with a BSc (Hons) in Earth Science in 2010. His field work for the honours thesis involved mapping of the Lewisian metamorphic belt in Gairloch, Scotland. David has MapInfo and ArcGIS experience to complement his mapping and interpretation skills.

David is a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who performs well when working as part of a team or independently.

Terry Taylor
Senior Exploration Geologist

Terry Taylor graduated with a BSc in Geology from Melbourne University in 1968 and subsequently gained an MSc from the University of Western Australia in 1984. Terry is an accomplished Senior Geologist with extensive experience in the supervision of drilling programs. His strengths are mapping and sampling at both local and regional scale as well as core logging.

Terry is an extremely competent Geologist who enjoys working as a Relief Geologist and isn’t averse to longer field stints when working in this capacity.

Helen,Barling

Helen Barling
Associate Senior Exploration Geologist

Helen Barling graduated from the University of South Australia with a B App Sc (Geology) in 1996.  She is an accomplished exploration geologist with over 10 years experience across various Australian mineral fields and terrains.  She is an observant geologist with excellent logging, reporting, rig supervision, modelling and interpretation skills.

Helen’s easy going nature ensures he fits into any geological team well.
 

Martin Bailey
Graduate Geologist

Martin Bailey graduated from Cardiff University with a BSc (Hons) in Geology in 2010. He is a committed and hard working team member, who is enthusiastic and highly motivated.

Martin began his exploration career at Digirock working out of a remote Pilbara field camp conducting iron ore exploration. Martin's quiet enthusiasm and passion for geology makes him a popular team member and an asset to exploration teams.

Barry Davis
Associate Senior Exploration Geologist

Barry Davis is an accomplished Senior Geologist with over 25 years exploration and senior management experience. He has undertaken exploration campaign and drilling management in desert to mountainous terrains across diverse geological settings and styles from epithermal/porphyry copper to alluvial and orogenic gold, to iron ore systems. Additionally, Barry has set up new country offices for companies in a number of different locations.

Through his strong understanding of structural geology, its application to exploration targeting, and his exploration management experience Barry Davis has brought projects from concept to pre-feasibility. He is a highly motivated and capable individual and undertakes short-term field exploration contracts in between running his rural property and his international geological interests.

Philip Denby
Project Geologist

Phil Denby graduated from the University of East Anglia with a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Earth Sciences in 2002 before going on to complete an MSc in Mining Geology from the Camborne School of Mines in 2004. He has over five years experience as an Exploration Geologist/Hydrogeologist in Australia, including iron ore and nickel exploration in WA, gold exploration near Pine Creek in the NT, and copper-gold exploration in SA. Phil is well versed in all aspects of diamond and RC drilling and has over two years of management and supervisory experience.

Phil is a passionate and methodical Geologist who enjoys working in remote environments. His easy going personality will see him fit well into any exploration team.

Chris Paton
Graduate Exploration Geologist

Chris Paton graduated from the University of Glasgow with a BSc in Earth Science in 2009. He is a member of the Scotland Lacrosse team and participated in the World Championships in 2010 in which Scotland placed 7th. This passion saw Chris coaching lacrosse at the school level before his decision to come to Australia to further his geological career.

Chris joined Digirock on our Graduate Geologist training program in 2011.

Morven Sinclair completed her BSc (Hons) in Earth Science (Hons) at the University of Glasgow in 2009 and her MSc in Carbon Capture and Storage at the University of Edinburgh in 2010, where she was an active member of their respective geological societies. Morven is quick to pick up new skills and thrives in a team environment.
