Hands-On-Training

Geological Best Practice Training

The current boom has increased the demand for quality, field-ready geologists more than at any other time in recent history.

While the industry has traditionally nurtured graduate geologists in field-based exploration teams under the guidance of senior geologists and field staff, significant new demands on the most experienced of staff often leave limited time for active professional mentoring.

In an effort to bridge this gap, Digirock runs a modular 5 day Geological Best Practice Training Course aimed at providing Graduate to Project-level Geologists, with the practical knowledge to supervise drilling programmes confidently, safely, and effectively.

Developed by experienced senior exploration geologists, the course demystifies the roles, responsibilities, and terminology of exploration drilling in the real world and combines theory with practical demonstrations and techniques.

The course is run every 2 months, however the modules can be completed individually or as a complete 5 module package. The 5 module course can be completed over a period of 12 months if needed to fit in with FIFO rosters.

Single modules are also appropriate for up-skilling field, environmental, and support personnel.

Course Content

Module One: Role of the Geologist
Module Two: Drilling Methods & Safety
Module Three: Introductory Sampling and Assaying
Module Four: Drillhole Data Collection & Core Processing
Module Five: Land Access & Cultural Heritage

Discounts are offered to AIG and AusIMM members.
